Why Herd?

Hey! King Arthur here again.

So you want to know why we herd, hmm?

Well... Let me explain.

My closest relative is a wolf.

You can see the similarity just looking at them.

Pointy nose, shaggy neck, similar build...

And have you ever seen wolves hunt? It's awesome.

Wolves are smart! They team up and hunt in a pack.

They circle their prey. Moving in slowly, with stealth.

Just like me!

OK... Maybe not like me because (as I said before) I don't actually have my own sheep. But you know what I mean.

The difference, of course, is that years and years of
selective breeding
has eaten away the killer instinct.

We're still super smart.

We still work great in a team.

And, we still love to circle our "prey".

That's honestly why we herd.

It's no more complicated than that.

It's who we are. It's deep in our genes.

Cool, huh?
